On January 1, 2010 the Customer Service Standard under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 came into force. The standard requires public sector organizations to provide accessible customer service to persons with disabilities and ensures policies, practices and procedures are consistent with the core principles of independence, dignity, integration and equality of opportunity.
